UVB Phototherapy at Dermatology Associates of Ithaca
UVB phototherapy is a safe and effective treatment option for a variety of inflammatory skin conditions. At Dermatology Associates of Ithaca, we offer targeted Narrowband UVB (NB-UVB) phototherapy and Broadband UVB (BB-UVB) phototherapy to patients in Ithaca and the surrounding areas as part of a comprehensive dermatologic care plan.
Phototherapy uses controlled ultraviolet light to reduce inflammation, slow abnormal skin cell growth, and improve symptoms in patients who have not responded fully to topical treatments.
What to Expect During UVB Phototherapy
UVB phototherapy is performed in our office using specialized light booths.
During treatment:
- You will stand in a phototherapy unit for a short period of time
- Treatment sessions typically last seconds to a few minutes
- Protective eyewear is worn during treatment
- Sessions are usually scheduled multiple times per week
