You may want to use a medicated cream to help provide moisture to your skin and relieve some of the itchiness that you experience. Your dermatologist may also prescribe antibiotics if you’re dealing with a bacterial infection from your flare-up.

Anti-inflammatory medication can be used to manage symptoms and light therapy can also be used to treat areas that don’t seem to improve from topical treatments.

Preventing an Eczema Flare-Up

There are methods that you can follow at home to prevent a flare-up from occurring. It’s important to keep your skin moisturized. You may want to use a combination of different products to find what works best for your skin.

Taking a daily bath or shower can help keep your skin clean and free of bacteria. It’s important to use warm water and try taking an oatmeal bath. Be sure to soak for less than 10 minutes and apply moisturizer while your skin is still damp.
